About Me

I grew up on the East Coast in a rural community on Cape Breton Island and graduated from St. Francis Xaxier University in 1993 with a BA in Political Science. I have called the West Coast my home since 1995 and I graduated from the University of Victoria in 2007 with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology. My experiences with grief, loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and Multiple Sclerosis inform my practice and my compassion towards others. I chose to pursue therapy as a career because of my inherent desire to help others overcome life's challenges and because I know first hand that counselling can and does work; I am living proof!

I am a proud mother to a beautiful, strong, independent adult daughter, and I have a 19-year-old feisty cat named Polly. I spend my spare time with friends, walking, creating with my many hobbies, and doing volunteer work for Umbrella Society where I sit on the Board of Directors and facilitate addiction groups as well as a codependency group which I developed.
